I am convinced that Cornelia’s work with the U.S. Women’s National Team has brought us from a bronze medal in the 2006 Winter Olympics to a gold medal in the World Championships two short years later. I believe this because I see the effect her work has had on me in our one-on-one sessions. She has helped me not only to change the way I approach hockey, but the way in which I live and view my life.

My work with Cornelia has changed my life. She has given me words to describe my feelings and offers clarity during difficult situations. Her teachings have given me greater self-confidence in all aspects of my life, including my interactions with teammates, friends, and loved ones. Cornelia’s guidance has challenged me on a variety of topics and levels, most notably my desire to live a fulfilling life. I cherish every interaction I have with her. Our team is extremely fortunate to have the opportunity to work with her!

Cornelia is someone that in just under two years of knowing her has made a huge impact on my life. My experiences in working with her have opened my eyes and perspective on life. I have seen first-hand the education that Cornelia teaches transform teams and individuals to perform at a very elite level.

Cornelia worked intimately with my team as a sports psychology consultant – especially focusing on balancing our mental, emotional, and physical energies to produce tangible results on the field. Although our practices together centered on athletic performance her work certainly had more far reaching effects. Her work helped me earn a level of clarity and ability to be discerning which I did not realize I so desperately wanted or needed. Cornelia brings the perfect balance of challenge and safety to every interaction which, in my experience, has led to an entire shift of how I live my life – for which I will be forever grateful.

I know I am a stronger person because of my work with Cornelia. Our work gave me an understanding of myself, an ability to be myself, and a means to take part in the richness and complexities of a life as a mother, a wife, a college president, a mentor, a member of a large family, a community volunteer, and more. My work with Cornelia has given me the ability to examine myself, to ask questions of the only person who can truly answer them: myself. This exercise, I believe, this very ability to be introspective, to constantly re-evaluate oneself, one’s place in the world, one’s desires and dreams, motivations, reactions to occurrences in daily life, one’s responses to pain and pleasure, defeat and success is absolutely crucial to crossing the bridge to adulthood. While adulthood cannot be “taught” in the conventional sense, Cornelia has established a practice that facilitates this passage from young adulthood to true mature adulthood. Read more.

One of the reasons Cornelia is so effective is that she listens in a way that's different from what I've experienced with other professionals in her field. It's hard to describe what she does, but it has to do with the fact that she doesn't just hear you, she actually really listens. And she listens to more than just what you're saying. Cornelia taught us that you have to feel safe, seen, met, and heard. I feel all those things when she listens to me. I never feel as though she's diagnosing or judging me, but rather that she's listening deeply and reflecting with me. As a result, I feel more free in her presence and therefore more able to grow into the person I know I am. For the first time in my life I feel comfortable being myself.

It was in the midst of personal and professional chaos that Cornelia became my counselor, coach, and friend. At a time when I felt as though I had nowhere to turn and no one to talk to, Cornelia helped me work through my “crap” as we fondly came to call it. She listened without judgment, provided effective advice, and most importantly, inspired me to find my own answers to the daunting questions that seemed unanswerable. Our individual sessions and conversations helped me find a way to manage my personal life, while leading my team to an improbable trip to the NCAA Final Four.
