Working with Cornelia dramatically transformed how I approach coaching lacrosse, teaching young women, and living my daily life.  In utilizing an integrated and personalized approach, Cornelia empowers coaches and teams to find inner strength, clarity of thought, and the courage to take risks.  Never one to look for a “quick fix” or a textbook solution, she incorporates the specific needs, challenges and characteristics of her clients when creating her one-on-one training and group sessions.  Our individual sessions and conversations helped me find a way to manage my personal life, while leading my team to an improbable trip to the NCAA Final Four. Cornelia’s work with our team was amazing.  She came in and without overwhelming the team with her presence, carefully witnessed and acquainted herself with the relationships between team members on and off the field.  Her perception and careful attention to these relationships made it possible for her to help us grow even more as a team, while respecting the bonds already in place, and helping each individual to believe in their personal capabilities and preparation.

Cornelia worked intimately with my team as a sports psychology consultant – especially focusing on balancing our mental, emotional, and physical energies to produce tangible results on the field.  Although our practices together centered on athletic performance her work certainly had more far reaching effects.  Her work helped me earn a level of clarity and ability to be discerning which I did not realize I so desperately wanted or needed.  Cornelia brings the perfect balance of challenge and safety to every interaction which, in my experience, has led to an entire shift of how I live my life – for which I will be forever grateful.  Read more.

Working with Cornelia over a period of years has helped me change the way I look at and approach coaching, as well as parenting and life in general.  She asks you to honestly evaluate what is important to you on an individual as well as program level and helps you achieve these goals while staying true to your values. What makes her unique is that she does not utilize a one-size fits all approach. Cornelia evaluates your team’s needs through observation and individual meetings to get to the heart of what is important to your specific group (team) and establishes a program that is distinctive. Cornelia is genuine and the gift she gives is one of perspective and honesty.  I could not have asked for a better experience, and I am looking forward to working with her again in the future.

To put it simply – I never used to think that the mental aspect of the game carried much weight.  I always thought that whichever competitor or team “showed up” on that day, would come out on top.  That whoever wanted it more would find a way to win…That was before I met Cornelia Holden.  That was before I made it back to the Final Four my senior year at Georgetown when all odds were stacked up against us.  That was before I became a World Champion for the USA Women’s Lacrosse Team.  Things don’t just happen…to be the best, you must train to be the best both mentally and physically–equally.

Working with Cornelia was a life-altering experience as an athlete.  She introduced me to an aspect of the game that I was not all that familiar with.  The Mental game.  She taught me that the game is won far before you take foot on that field.

Cornelia Holden takes a unique approach to stripping the athlete of his/her worst fears and allowing them to build a necessary sense of empowerment as an athlete.  Her understanding of what it takes to be a success is so clearly evident in the way she is able to guide the athlete to perform at his/her best on a daily basis. She is extremely gifted at mastering the mental game.

I feel privileged and extremely lucky to have had the opportunity to work with Cornelia Holden.
