You will learn what the term ‘mindful’ means, practice and learn the value of mindfulness to athletes, and be introduced to the mindful-citizen-leader model.
Session 2: Establishing Mindful Warrior Team Councils
You will learn the purpose of team councils and practice mindful listening skills.
Mindful Warrior Leadership Training
Session 3: Core Values of Mindful Warrior Teams
Learn the core values all mindful warrior teams uphold, how and why they give teams a competitive advantage, and how to be a responsible and trustworthy team citizen.
Session 4: Deepening the Mindful Warrior Council Experience
Building on the skills developed in session #2, we will explore how to practice the art of non-judgment and transform conflict.
Session 5: Why Mindful Citizens Make the Most Effective Leaders
Learn the qualities related to citizenship and leadership and understand the differences between the roles of players, captains, and coaches.

Opening Ceremonies & Dinner
The opening ceremonies are for all participants and any accompanying family members. The dinner kicks off the academy and is for athletes only.

Mindful Warrior Yoga
Athletes learn yoga postures and stretches to open hips, chest, and shoulders. Sessions include mindfulness instruction.

Session 6: The Four Stages of Mindful Warrior Team Development
Learn the qualities of the four stages of healthy team development.
Session 7: Addressing Fear, Selfishness, Anger and Conflict on Teams
Learn how to recognize conflict early and harness its power for the development of the team.
Session 8: Building Mindful Warrior Teams at Home
Learn how to be an ambassador of the Mindful Warrior approach on your home team.

Mindful Warrior Councils
A time to learn from one another, to practice mindful listening and mindful communication skills, and to reflect on the lessons being learned.
Session 1: Whitewater Skills Training
In preparation for our day-long rafting trip you will learn how to read rivers, throw and retrieve safety lines, surf currents, and work together safely in class I and II water.
Session 2: Whitewater Raft Trip on the Arkansas River
The Numbers is an exciting class III/IV stretch of the Arkansas River. You will implement your new river skills, work together in teams, practice your communication skills, and have an opportunity to enjoy one of Colorado’s finest rivers.
Session 3: Orienteering Course
In preparation for our hike to the Eiseman Hut, one of 29 huts managed by the 10th Mountain Division Hut Association, you will be introduced to navigational skills using a map and compass.
Session 4: Hike to Eiseman Hut
Situated at 11, 180’, you will work together in teams using your orienteering skills to see whose team can arrive at this spectacular alpine hut first. We will eat dinner and spend the night at this spectacular, rustic alpine hut.
Session 5: Summit Bald Mountain
From the Eiseman Hut, we will rise early, hike to the top of Bald Mountain for a spectacular sunrise team council, and then return to the hut to prepare and enjoy a delicious brunch.
Session 6: Hike out from Eiseman Hut
On our final day together, we will hike out and return to Vail for our farewell council and closing dinner.
