I loved Cornelia’s explanations of "mindful warrior" and "deep performance ecology” and how those terms apply to ourselves and to the players we coach. While she was talking, I wondered about the energy level on my team and vowed to be more conscious of the times when my own "neurotic energy" might affect my team. Specifically I thought her discussion about the value of players feeling safe, seen, met, and heard were great concepts. I also loved her talk about culture and rituals (especially involving closure) and about being part of something greater than yourself. Her use of the term ‘mastery’ in lieu of the term ‘perfection’ makes so much sense for the attitude I’d like our team to embrace. Cornelia’s idea of the warrior archetype as one who shows up every day and chooses to be fully present is one I will encourage my players to adopt this season.
Cornelia speaks about coaching in the context of how we live our lives. Her "Mindful Warrior" and "Deep Performance Ecology" approach to coaching helped me see new ways to provide guidance to my athletes and help them reach their potential.
